We welcome enquiries from members of the public who may wish to become volunteers with HRCH provided they are aged 18 or over.
Volunteers provide an invaluable service to patients and their relatives, but are not involved in clinical care. The contribution of volunteers is complementary to, but does not replace, the work of paid staff.
Your help is greatly appreciated. However, before starting voluntary work it is important to consider how much time you can commit. For most people this will be for a few hours on a regular weekly or fortnightly basis.
Continuity and reliability is important to build good relationships with staff and to help you feel part of the team, so we do ask for a minimum 6 month commitment from our volunteers.
We undertake stringent registration checks in line with our volunteer policy. These can take up to six weeks to complete and include an interview, two references, DBS check (formerly Criminal Records Bureau check) and an Occupational Health check. All our volunteers are bound by the Trust Confidentiality Policy.
Opportunities to volunteer:
Please note that whilst we are fortunate to receive many enquiries, this may result in a delay in us getting back to you. However, please be assured that we will be respond as soon as possible.
There may not always be volunteer roles available at the time of your application in the location or at the time or day of your choice. you are welcome to register your interest in volunteering and the volunteer coordinator will contact you if a suitable vacancy arises.
