Local people in Hounslow have the chance to get free health checks from a team of NHS dietitians, nurses and health trainers at two healthy lifestyle roadshows in April, organised by Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
The health trust is encouraging Hounslow residents to drop-by at the events to get free advice and support on various aspects of healthy lifestyles - including healthy eating, stopping smoking and increasing exercise.
Free NHS health checks will be provided at the roadshows for people aged 40 – 74 with a Hounslow GP with no pre-existing medical condition.
The health checks will include weight, waist, BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose; whilst the team will also offer Q-Risk calculations - which tells people their risk of developing cardiovascular disease in the next ten years.
Alex Russell, Dietitian at Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare says: “If you’re concerned about your health or want to live a healthier lifestyle – this is your chance to get a free health check up and take the first steps to improving your quality of life.
“It’s really important to for people to have their cholesterol levels checked to ensure they can make informed decisions about their health. People who are overweight, smoke, who are inactive, or drink too much alcohol - are all more at risk of having high cholesterol, so by coming to our roadshow they can access services to help reduce their risk in the future.”
