Members of our Lambeth and Southwark immunisation team pitched up Larkhall Park on Saturday (7 July) for the 2018 Stockwell Festival. The team used this popular event full of activities to give health advice to local residents and share important information about school age immunisations.
According to the Lambeth Residents Survey, Stockwell has the lowest level of community cohesion in the borough and the free festival was a chance to celebrate the unique creativity, energy and diversity of the area.
The team spoke to more than 1,200 people, sharing information about childhood and teenage vaccinations. Parents were interested to hear about flu vaccinations and found the question and answer sessions very informative.
This was an excellent opportunity to promote social inclusion within the local community and empower parents to make informed choices about vaccinations for their children.
The more people who are vaccinated against vaccine preventable diseases in the community, the lower the risk of spreading such diseases amongst them.
