A week of free health walks and healthy lifestyle events takes place across Richmond between Monday 24 March and Sunday 30 March to encourage local people to walk more and improve their lifestyles.

Walk Richmond Week has been organised by LiveWell Richmond, the free health improvement service run by Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust. The week-long series of events will promote the huge health benefits of physical activity and walking for people of all ages.

Free family-friendly health walk and Zumba warm-up: Saturday 29 March

Following a series of free guided walks throughout the week, the main event features a family friendly health walk and a free Zumba warm-up on Saturday 29 March, between 11:30am – 1pm at:

Richmond Adult Community College
Parkshot Campus
Richmond
TW9 2RE

Free Zumba classes will be provided by a qualified Zumba instructor and Richmond residents will also get the chance to meet NHS health trainers from the LiveWell Richmond team and sign up to free NHS services that can support them to achieve healthy lifestyle changes - such as exercising more, losing weight, stopping smoking or cutting down on alcohol.

Those interested in participating in the half hour family-friendly walk on Saturday 29 March should wear sensible shoes and arrive between 11.30 and 1pm.

The first 50 people arriving at the event on Saturday will receive free pedometers* and progress charts to complete the LiveWell Pedometer Challenge, launched at the Trust’s ‘Healthy Diet for a Healthier Lifestyle’ event at the end of February. LiveWell Richmond manager, Mike Hughes said: “There are tremendous health benefits of physical activity in general, and walking specifically for people of all ages. As summer approaches, we want to encourage people to take steps towards achieving their healthy goals by walking more and to use this opportunity to get free help from our team of health trainers.

“The health fair focuses on how people can achieve their lifestyle goals and how they can make the most of the free support available on the NHS. Making simple changes to your lifestyle can lead to massive improvements in health and we’ll be providing helpful tips and information on how people can do this.”
