The paediatric phlebotomy service takes blood tests for children between the ages of 1 year and 14 years of age. Patients need to be registered with a Hounslow GP who has contracted to use this service.
Clinic sessions run with an appointment system for blood tests.
Urgent blood test requests need to be referred to the service by the GP practice to allocate an emergency appointment.
The paediatric phlebotomy clinic sessions are held at Heart of Hounslow Centre for Health.
When booking or attending an appointment, patients are required to have their blood test forms with them. A blood test cannot be performed without this information. Booking staff will confirm and advise on fasting blood tests for patients to be aware of the necessary requirements to ensure an appropriate appointment is booked.
All children are required to attend with their parent and any children attending without are required to bring a letter from their parent giving consent for the blood test to be taken.
Children requiring anaesthetic cream may obtain a prescription from their GP in advance and booking staff will advise on the application of the cream. Please see attached information sheet.
Please note that at times the phlebotomy service telephone line can be very busy. Please bear with us and continue to call as we try to answer your call as quickly as possible.
