Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust offers a comprehensive and competitive employment package to ensure you benefit from your hard work in the communities we serve.

Annual leave

We reward you with a generous annual leave allowance that increases, the longer you work for us.

Starting off at 27 days per year plus 8 bank holidays, your annual leave entitlement will increase to 29 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years of NHS service. This service does not have to be continuous.

If you work part-time, your annual leave entitlement will be pro rata based on the number of hours you work.

Salary

Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust offers competitive salaries which include outer high cost area supplements. 

All our staff, except doctors and dentists (who have their own pay scales), are paid under the Agenda for Change pay system: the national framework which sets out consistent terms and conditions and fair pay scales for all NHS employees.

Under Agenda for Change, each NHS job has a band from 1 to 9, which indicates the pay scale through which you will progress while in your role. We show the band for each job in all our recruitment advertising.

If you join us from another NHS employer we will place you on the appropriate point on the scale to recognise your current experience. If you join us from an employer outside of the NHS, your manager will be responsible for identifying relevant experience so that you can be placed on the appropriate point on the scale.

Retirement support

Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust is keen to encourage staff to continue to play an active part in the life of the NHS for as long as possible.

This could be through winding down (working fewer days in your current post) or stepping down (for example, into a less demanding job on lower pay, but which still makes  good use of your skills and experience), phased or flexible retirement or bank and voluntary working after retirement. We'll talk you through the different options available if you are approaching retirement age. 

Sick pay

We hope that you will be fit and well during your employment but should you fall ill as an NHS employee at Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust, you are entitled to occupational sick pay.

You may be entitled to up to six months at full pay and six months at half pay, depending on your length of service. Entitlements to Occupational Sick Pay are set out in section 14 of the Agenda for Change handbook.

Easy access to central London

Our bases are all ideally situated for travelling to central London, with the majority of our sites offering access to central London in about 30 minutes. The trust is well serviced by public transport, with extensive bus services and nearby mainline train stations.

Assistance with travel costs

Whether you walk, cycle, drive or travel by public transport to work, we help make your journeys easier. We offer interest-free public transport season ticket loans to Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust employees, helping you spread out the costs of your travel to work.  

If driving is essential, e.g. if you are an on-call worker, then you can apply for a car parking permit at some Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust sites.

Cycle to work scheme

Staff can save up to 40% when purchasing a bicycle and bike safety equipment through the trust's Cycle to Work Scheme, which is run under a salary sacrifice arrangement. The trust's scheme is administered by Cyclescheme.

Leisure facilities

Richmond

Richmond features royal parks and historic houses, theatres, museums and galleries rich with exhibits. The town Centre features a wide variety of shops and restaurants. The River Thames runs through the heart of the borough for 21 miles linking Hampton Court Palace, Richmond town centre and Kew Gardens with central London.

Hounslow

Hounslow has a large shopping centre which adjoins its high street and a large number of restaurants, cafés and small businesses. London Heathrow Airport is also within the borough and is easily accessible.

Hounslow Heath is a large public open space with a local nature reserve to the west of the borough.

Childcare

A childcare vouchers scheme is in place so parents can benefit from tax breaks. Savings can be around £1000 per year.

There are a number of nurseries local to all Trust sites where staff can benefit from discounts to NHS workers of up to 12%.

Work-life balance

We are committed to improving the work-life balance of staff. Our ‘balancing work and personal life’ policy includes provision for carer leave, job-sharing, career breaks, parental leave, paternity and adoption leave.

Flexible working

Our staff are currently taking advantage of a large range of flexible working opportunities including part-time, job sharing and term time (or part year) working.

NHS Pension Scheme

Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust is a member of the NHS pension scheme, which is generally considered to be one of the most advantageous schemes for the employee.

The scheme is eligible to all NHS workers between the age of 16 and 75, who:

  • are directly employed by the NHS

  • are medical, dental and ophthalmic practitioners and trainees

  • are general medical practice staff

  • are staff working for certain approved employers

  • are non-General Practice Providers.

There are seven rates of member contribution, ranging from 5% of pensionable pay for the lowest earners to 13.3% of pensionable pay for the highest. Contributions are taken from your pay before tax so you receive tax relief on any amount you pay. As your employer we contribute 14% to the scheme. You may also pay a lower rate of National Insurance.

Some pension schemes are comparable enough with the NHS pension scheme that contributions from other schemes can be transferred into the NHS pension scheme and vice versa.

We offer staff a range of occupational health and rehabilitation services that employees can be referred to after being assessed by an occupational health adviser.

We'll also undertake some pre-employment health screening before you start working for us to make sure we can help you address any health needs you may have. On an on-going basis, if you have patient contact, we'll offer you access to an occupational immunisation programme and will ensure you are trained on the management of occupational exposures to blood and body fluids and are able to undertake latex risk assessments. All staff are given the opportunity to have a flu vaccine.

Health and safety

We're committed to ensuring you're as safe as possible at work and that work doesn't have a detrimental impact on your health. As a result, we make health and safety a priority at Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

Moving and handling

It might be something you do all the time or only occasionally in your job, but we're committed to preserving your health whenever you have to move or handle something in your job. We'll give you training and help with moving and handling, risk assessments, equipment, as well as training you on techniques that will be useful in your job.

Sports and leisure facilities

We offer discounted gym memberships at a number of local fitness centres and gym providers, so that you don't have to commit to a set gym provider dictated by us.

Staff counselling service

Our professional counselling service provides staff with free advice and counselling for a variety of issues such as stress, loss or bereavement, work difficulties and personal issues. This confidential service is here to support staff with their mental wellbeing, emotional and practical needs in order to keep psychologically healthy at work and be supported to provide top quality patient care.

Zero tolerance on violence and aggression

Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare operate a zero tolerance policy on acts of violence and aggression towards staff. We consider the safety of all staff of paramount importance and are committed to providing, as far as is reasonably practicable, safe environments and systems of work for all staff whilst you are performing their duties. We do not expect staff to subject themselves to, or be exposed to, any unnecessary risks or to cope alone with potential or actual violent situations.
