HRCH has recently been re-awarded the National Preceptorship Interim Quality Mark by NHS England’s National Workforce Skills Development Unit, for its preceptorship programme.

Preceptorship provides a period of structured support and guidance for newly registered healthcare practitioners as they transition from students to professionals and aims to provide colleagues with opportunities to translate their knowledge into everyday practice, supporting their confidence and enabling them to have the best possible start in their careers.

The preceptorship programme at HRCH has been supporting newly qualified nurses for a number of years and has recently developed to provide extended support for all newly qualified health care professionals over a period of two years.

The Preceptorship Quality Mark was developed as part of the CapitalNurse programme to allow NHS Trusts to benchmark themselves against an assessment framework and recommended set of standards.

Sarah Mack, Interim Head of Clinical Improvement for Nursing and Allied Health Professionals at HRCH, said: “By providing a consistent and structured approach to preceptorship, newly qualified health care professionals can gain and develop the appropriate skills and knowledge required of their new role that will underpin their future career development.

"We are proud to have been re-awarded the National Preceptorship Interim Quality Mark and look forward to sharing our programme with new colleagues over the coming months.”
