Special school nursing

We provide nursing support for children with an identified nursing or medical need. We cover Lindon Bennett School and Lindon Bennett Foundation Centre and Specialist Nursery and Oaklands School.

To access this service, a child needs to attend one of these special schools in Hounslow, be registered with a Hounslow GP and have one of the following nursing needs/conditions:

  • asthma, diabetes, allergies
  • epilepsy
  • gastrostomy, naso-gastric tube and jejunostomy tube feeding
  • suctioning, tracheostomy, non-invasive ventilation, oxygen, nasopharyngeal airway
  • essential daily medication
  • other nursing needs – based on assessment

Our support enables students with complex medical needs to access education.

We work very closely with other professionals and therapists to meet children and young people’s needs at the school.

We also provide training and support for teaching staff and parents.

We contribute to your child’s educational health and care plan (EHCP) and its annual review and we also ensure that your child has an up-to date care plan at the school.

Special School Nursing is part of the Paediatric Community Nursing Service (Hounslow).
